Located on the Academy Hill School building, the seal of Nantucket had suffered from considerable neglect, owing to its location on the pediment above the third floor. A portion of the center had been worked loose by the wind and fallen to the ground. Many of the letters were severely worn and chipped and the left lower quadrant had completely rotted. Blackburn began the project by removing the rest of the center section and restoring it in our shop. At that time we replicated two sections of the curved outer frame. We brought the restored sections back to the school, installed them and completed the woodwork repair with a two part consolidant and flexible epoxy treatment on the remaining areas.
